Round Kick (Mawashi Geri) Tutorial. The roundhouse kick is a powerful and effective kicking technique in which the attacker swings his or her leg around in a semicircular motion, striking with the front of the leg or foot. This type of kick is utilized in many different martial arts and cardio kickboxing workouts, and has many variations based on stance, leg movement, striking surface, and the height of the kick. In order to perform safely a Roundhouse Kick, we must learn to move our hips and legs correctly to protect the knee of the supporting leg while kicking. Also important to develop flexibility to avoid injury during training.
