Now it's time to introduce a release we're really excited about here at Lower East. It comes from Alfred Taylor, the new solo project of Alfie from acclaimed house and techno duo, Dusky. We've been big fans of Dusky ever since we first heard of them and we are delighted to release the debut EP from Alfred Taylor. A classically trained musician, Aflie's ability to effortlessly cross between house, jazz, avant-garde electronic, garage and techno whilst maintaining top quality production is something that really flips our collective lid here at Lower East. So it is without further ado that we unleash Alfred Taylor to the world!
Throughout the whole EP, Alfie explores vintage sounds through modern house music that displays his eclectic tendencies. On 'Akagi' he delves into classic garage influenced house. Its haunting atmosphere and laidback attitude collides with a punchy beat, melodic bassline and soulful vocal edits to a make a true body mover. 'Anymore' takes on more of a sinister persona with a bristling old school techno energy permeating textured atmospherics to great effect. We love the contrast between the more stripped back elements of the track and the pumping feel to it here. Alfie's third new production on the release, 'What You Need' is a skipping house strut that shuffles along with deep bass and warm synths. He manages to conjure a cosy, fuzzy feeling whilst still packing enough punch for the dancefloor.
Label heads Cozzy D and Lee Brinx provide a blissfully tripped out remix of 'Anymore' to complete the release. Tapping into a laidback groove, the guys roll out a melodic and spacey remix with a soulful sincerity. We're really looking forward to this release as we think that it's diverse and eclectic approach really sums up the ethos of our label as a whole. Have a listen and you'll see what we mean.
